Employees who have no prospects in their current job are looking for something new. This is shown by StepStone’s research among 1481 companies and 15,921 employees from 8 European countries, including the Netherlands and Belgium latest Career Opportunities.
latest Career Opportunities
A lack of development opportunities and career opportunities appears to be the main reason why people leave a company. Almost half of the participants in the survey called this as the main reason to leave.
Employees also want to be able to evolve within their job and to be able to fully use their knowledge and skills at work. The lack of a career plan is the second reason to search for other vacancies.
In addition, they want the manager to respect the work that they do. A lack of appreciation comes in third place in the top 10. The wage is only in fourth place.
StepStone also asked employees who do not want to change jobs, which motivates them. The majority said they just have a job that they like to do and therefore do not want to change. People who like to do their work see no reason to seek a new challenge.
A good relationship with colleagues comes second. A good relationship with the boss comes in third place in the list of reasons to stay with an employer.
Career opportunities java developer, why would I be concerned with this if I already have a job?
As a starting java developer, it is important to keep a close eye on your career opportunities. Imagine you graduated a few years ago and have been working as a Java developer for a number of years now with your first (or second) employer. Hours fly by, hours become days, days months and before you know it you’ve been plodding for the same “boss” for a few years already.
What started years ago as a fantastic job is now disappointing. Your boss seems to be more concerned with delivering products and meeting deadlines than with what makes Developen fun. New techniques do not seem to interest your boss; “As we work now, we have always worked and that stays the same way”, that’s what you’re done with. Your career opportunities within your current company are also minimal, there is only one branch with a handful of employees. Time to type in “career opportunities java” on google!
Become a top java developer or play on for sure?
As a java developer your career opportunities are very diverse and, provided you stay busy with the latest techniques and continue to enrich your knowledge, the jobs are up and running. Take a look at Google for example. You have the potential to become a top developer, but whether you actually do that is up to you and the company you work for!
Do you have problems with your manager or a colleague in your current job?
How do you know if you are working at the “wrong” company? There is no unambiguous description for a “wrong” company, but below are a few questions that help you determine whether the company has a good influence on you (and your career):
Have you ever obtained (relevant for your position) certificates for your current employer?
Is your current employer working on the latest developments / techniques in the developer field and are these applied?
Do you no longer see growth opportunities within your current job?
If you answered “yes” to one or more questions above, it is not a bad idea to take action. As mentioned earlier; As a (good) Java developer you have the jobs for the taking, why should you go for your current employer? The world of the internet does not stand still and you should not do that either.
What now? What can I do with these career opportunities in Java?

Relive old times. In the ICT the jobs are again up for grabs. Are not you too old and do you have the right skills? Then you are baked. But are you over fifty or is still in elementary school? That is being updated.
Let’s start with the good news. For many ICT specialists, the opportunities on the labor market are excellent. There is plenty of work for people with knowledge and affinity with new technology. Especially recent graduates have a wide choice of jobs in ICT. Many of them possess the skills and mentality that organizations seek: flexible, collaborative, communicative and digital.
Almost all HBO or university-trained IT specialists between the ages of 25 and 35 find a job in paid employment or as a self-employed person. They can earn a lot with it. A completed Informatica study yields an average starting salary of more than 2400 euros gross per month. In addition, nearly nine out of ten computer scientists have a paid job shortly after graduation.
The bad news is that the low-skilled, the middle segment and the over-55s find it harder to get into ICT. Their competences and way of working do not always correspond with the changing organization. Their latest Career Opportunities is also on the way through far-reaching automation and robotisation. Fortunately, through additional training it is possible to keep in touch with the labor market. This requires dedication from the ICT professional and from the employer.
